Notes Township: Longsdon Farm: Wall Grange Major field 130a-1r-30p documented well back into the medieval period. See VCH VII. Tenure has implications for past history as part of a royal forest. See Tringham Vol.5 Staffs Studies for a vital transcript. Substantial hay linked to Wall Grange and carrying the implication as a elsewhere, that for the major estates/farms there was land dedicated to the provision of holly as winter fodder. Here half the area is shown as wooded, in this case the steep slopes dipping down towards the River Churnet.
